About Fudan University

Fudan Unitverisy was founded in 1905, which makes it one of the oldest modern universities of China. The two Chinese characters Fu and Dan literally mean "(heavenly light shines) day after day", and were chosen by the distinguished educator from the Confucian Classics. The goal of Fudan is to cultivate more and more all-round talents for modern China, and their motto is rich in knowledge and tenacious of purposes, inquiring with earnestness and reflecting with self-practice’’.

Moreover, Fudan ranks 88th on the QS World University Rankings, and 16th on the QS Asian Univeristy Ranking list. Fudan University comprises 17 full-time schools, 69 departments, 73 bachelor's degree programs. Over 45,000 students are enrolled, including full-time students and students in continuing education and online education. Additionally, there are nearly 1,760 students from overseas.

The university consists of four campuses located on the boundaries of the Shanghai city centre. Fudan has established a campus structure called "one-body-two-wings", where the body is Handan campus and Jiangwan campus, which are only 3.2 km apart, and the two wings are Fenglin campus and Zhangjiang campus. With three libraries - the Liberal Arts Library, the Science Library and the Medical Library, with a total floor of 29,000 square meters – there is enough space for a quite place to study.

The accommodation of the international students is organized in one building. Very few people speak English, but that invites you quickly learn the Chinese language and there is always the opportunity to mingle with other international students. Two students sleep in one dorm, which provides all the basic facilities needed. For food you can easily buy some in the food courts near the accommodation.

The cultural hotspots in the city are easily to reach by public transport or by taxi. Besides the great studying experience, the campus is a good basis to start exploring the great city of Shanghai.
